Richmond is the largest urban settlement in the Tasman District located at the top of the South Island, New Zealand, only 15km south of Nelson. Its fast growing population of 11,000 is attracted by the surrounding natural beauty and vibrant feel of the town.

Richmond is the main shopping and business precinct in the District and in recent years it has been transformed with the addition of many new retail outlets and the largest Mall in the top of the south. Richmond is surrounded by national parks, Abel Tasman National Park, Nelson Lakes National Park and Kahurangi National Park and waterways such as Rabbit Island (Moturoa), Aniseed Valley, Waimea River and Kaiteriteri.
